Exosat - end of orbital operations.
Abstract
Exosat, the European X-ray Astronomy Observatory, re-entered the earth's atmosphere on May 6, 1986. Launched on May 26, 1983, the satellite, originally planned and funded for a two-year operational life, completed nearly 3 yr of detailed studies of cosmic X-ray sources, including normal stars, binary systems containing a 'compact' object, supernova remnants within the Galaxy and quasars far out in the Universe.
